The nun’s ordination on Shanta Vana
On 7/29/2022, the ordination of a novice (in Sanskrit śramaneri, in Pali samaneri), which is a transition from full-fledged monastic ordination (in Sanskrit bhikshuni, in Pali bhikkhuni), took place at Shanta Vana. The ordination took place within the tradition of Chinese Buddhism, in which the vinaya of the Dharmaguptaka school of Buddhism is observed. In contrast to Theravada, in this tradition, an unbroken line of ordination of Buddhist nuns has been preserved.
